I have no reason to doubt the competence of Mr Vats. But, after 4 months my TKR is still very painful with only just over 90 degrees bend. I get pain when walking usually 4/10 but it peaked over the last 2 days at 7-8/10. There is a swelling above the cap on the/my LHS and the joint always feels hot to touch. I find it difficult to sleep on my side; discomfort and eventually pain make me turn over or sleep on my back (then snoring). I have followed the guidance of my Physio (Ash) as far as possible, pain permitting, with the formal exercises and walking and an exercise bike. I would like another detailed and honest consultation/examination. If not possible I will try to get a second opinion. I need to know that eventually/soon I will be pain free with a greater degree of flexibility. I cannot accept that my current condition is the best it will get. I hope you can help. Mr Vats listened but more importantly he looked me in the eye. He didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear but what I needed to know.

Mr A Vats looked at my X-ray and said I definitely need a TKR on my left knee and at the time had to wait 3-6 months… he kept to his word. My operation went well , no complications. My wish would be to have an X-ray to prove that my bones haven’t moved and are healing as expected. Mr Vats and his team treated me well.
